Clubs at Roydon School
During the year there are a variety of clubs that children can go to. These may be held at lunchtimes or after school for different year groups. Information about days and times will be sent home by the person running the club.
Clubs on offer include:-
Choir
This is run at lunchtimes for Key Stage 2 children. We sing a range of songs and perform in different concerts throughout the year.
Colouring Club
Colouring Club is held at lunch time. Go along if you would like to spend some time drawing and colouring.
Cricket
Kwik cricket is a great summer game! It takes place on the field at lunchtimes for children in Year 5 and 6 and usually culminates with a tournament at the High School against other schools in the cluster. Roydon have an excellent cricket record, winning most years to qualify for the South Norfolk Finals.
Digital Leaders
This club is held at lunchtimes and allows Year 6’s who have passed the interviews to practise their computing skills. They code games, interact online, help other children in the school and sometimes even teach the teachers about new technology! One of the highlights of the year is the visit to the Apple Store in Norwich to create music!
Football Club
Football club is run after school for anyone in Year 5 and 6. It’s really fun. Boys and girls learn a lot of skills, as well as have the opportunity to play games. Matches against other schools are held whenever possible and we also compete in local tournaments.
Heywood After-School Clubs
Heywood Sports offer a range of Lunchtime and After-School clubs at our school. At lunchtimes, games are organised for different year groups on a rota basis twice a week. After school there is the chance to join in with activities like Jungle Body, Multi Sports and Dodgeball.
Music Club
Go along to music club to play a new instrument as part of a band!
Netball Club
Miss Stannard runs our netball club after school. It is a great way of keeping fit and having fun too! If you’ve never played before come along and learn the game. We love to play competitively and over the years have been very successful in cluster netball tournaments and in the South Norfolk competitions. We enjoy Hi 5 netball as well as the traditional 7 a-side games.
Ocarina
Miss Willer runs a musical instrument club on at lunch time for Year 1 pupils upwards. Ocarinas are small and round and a bit like a recorder to play. If you have never played one before, come and have a try!
Rounders
Rounders is another popular summer sport. It usually takes place after school and is open to years 5 and 6. As well as the tournament in the cluster, one of the highlight of the sporting year is the traditional Parents v Year 6 match. DO NOT MISS IT!
Story Club
Everyone loves a story! This is an opportunity for Infants to go and listen to familiar stories and new. It is held at lunchtime and each week there is a “guest” story teller.
Times Table Rock Stars
This is an opportunity for children to go to a lunchtime club to practice their multiplication skills and improve their very own Rockstar!
